3 ASSAULTED BY MIRA ROAD HOTEL STAFFERS FOR QUESTIONING OVER SERVICE CHARGE

MUMBAI : Three friends  who  had gone to a Mira Road hotel to celebrate one of the friend's marriage, allegedly questioned the manager of the hotel for including service tax in their food bill were assaulted with glass bottles, belts and sticks by the hotel staff on late Monday night.

The 3 victims sustained injuries  and are being treated at the Tembha Civic hospital in Bhayander.  According to the complainant Sandesh Parte, who runs a photography studio in Mira Road, he and two friends Anand Kale and Prashant Waghmare were at the Park View Hotel in Laxmi Park, Mira Road. Waghmare who got married a  fortnight ago was treating the friends as they had missed the function.

Waghmare  had carried their own booze and were allowed to drink it in the hotel by the manager provided they ordered food which Waghmare agreed.  As they finished dinner by around 2230 hrs, the waiter handed them a bill of Rs 1,100 (GST included) and Rs 300 as service charge. Kale approached the manager at the bill counter and asked him about the service charge. The manager allegedly got into an argument with Kale and slapped him. Waghmare and Parte  intervened. They too were assaulted by the manager, watchman, waiters and around 30 unidentified men with beer bottles, belts and sticks.

The Mira Road police reached the spot and controlled the mob.  We have registered cases under Section 147 (rioting) and Section 143 (unlawful assembly) of the IPC has been registered against the manager and unknown persons said PI Vasant Labde of Mira Road police station.  We have also obtained the closed circuit television (CCTV) images of the hotel about the incident and no arrest has been made so far said Labde.
