MUMBAI : An eight-year-old boy studying in Std IV of a local Hindi medium school, allegedly drowned in an open manhole near his house in Nalasopara on Tuesday evening. The body was found on Wednesday morning.
Rishabh Vishwakarma (8) a resident of Hrithik Apartment, Vijay Laxmi Nagar, Nalla Sopara (E), went missing since Tuesday evening and the body was found floating in the manhole filled with water on Wednesday morning by locals.
Said a Tulinj police official, Rishabh did not return till late evening, and his parents launched a search but could not be traced, so a missing complaint was filed with the Tulinj police,said PSI Hemant Katkar, spokesman for the Palghar Police..
On Wednesday morning, we were informed about a body floating in the open manhole located at an isolated spot in Vasantnagri,said the official.We have sent the body for post mortem and its report is awaited, said the official. We are investigating as to how the manhole had no cover, which led to the tragedy, he said.As of now, a case of accidental death has been registered and are investigating further, he said.
