DACOITS SCOOT WITH RS 48 LAKH FROM CASH VAN, GUARD INJURED

MUMBAI : Two unidentified dacoits on Tuesday evening scooted with around Rs 48 lakh cash from a box which was being carried by a guard and another aide to be deposited in an Axis Bank ATM at Gorai Naka,Santosh Bhuwan in Tulinj,Nalla Sopara. The 2 dacoits arrived in a Wagon R car and snatched the steel box containing the cash and assaulted the guard with a pistol and absconded.

On Tuesday evening guard Birju Paswan and an aide arrived at the ATM to refill the cash in a van. As they were taking a steel box containing around Rs 48 lakh to be refilled at the ATM centre, a Wagon R car with two men stopped near them and one dacoit armed with a pistol got down and put the weapon on Paswan's head and assaulted him and as Paswan fell down the dacoit put the box in the car and absconded said Datta Totewad,DySP,Nalla Sopara. Paswan has been admitted at Balaji Hospital in Nalla Sopara for his injuries said the official. We do not rule out an insider's job as the timing wad perfect of the dacoity as the latter knew about the cash movement said Totewad.

We have registered a case of dacoity against unknown persons and are checking the CCTV footage from the area and the car was seen heading towards the Mumbai Ahmedabad National Highway and we have notified all toll nakas on both Mumbai and Ahmedabad sides for clues said Totewad.

The cash was to be deposited in atleast 6  ATM centres by the cash transporting firm in Nalla Sopara and we are investigating with the logistics firm about the exact cash which was in the box and as per Paswan's statement the box contained around Rs 48 lakh and are investigating further said Totewad.
