FUGITIVE VASAI KINGPIN WANTED FOR RS 40 CR HEROIN,MDMA DRUGS HELD IN BANGALORE
MUMBAI:The Palghar Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested Faiyaz Ahmed Rasool Shaikh (47) a Vasai resident and his accomplice Sajid Ghulam Ali Shaikh from Bangalore on Monday evening. He was arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA),1999 and also under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985 and when produced before the MCOCA Special Court in Thane, both have been remanded in police custody till 5 February, confirmed Vikas Totawar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Vasai. On 3 October, in one of the biggest seizure, the Local Crime Branch (LCB), Palghar raided a deserted farm located at Dapchari in Talasari, Palghar district and seized a huge quantity of pure heroin, MDMA (a recreational drug) and a sizeable number of unknown drugs. The total drug haul was worth Rs 40 crores in the international market,who had also seized a Karnataka registered Fortuner SUV. The three accused who were present at the time of the raid absconded when they got wind of the raid. On 24 September, the LCB Palghar had arrested three persons, including a Nigerian-Stephan U and two local accused, Sarfaraz Memon and Sohail Memon- from Stella, in Manickpur,Vasai and seized 21.75 kg Ephedrine (a ectasy drug) worth Rs 22 lakhs and also a black coloured Audi car. The three accused are in police custody remand , and during their interrogation, the LCB raided the Palghar dairy farm. Said Manjunath Singe, SP, Palghar this
was one of the biggest seizure in the Palghar police district. According to police sources, the drugs are procured from either Gujarat or Karnataka and Palghar is used as the transit point,where the drugs are stored for future transportation to Mumbai and other areas in the State. We had seized around 5.2 kg pure Afghan origin heroin (which is considered to be of premium quality) worth Rs 26 crore, around 24.69 kg of the MDMA drug (chemical name : Isosafrole 3,4- Methylenendioxymethamphetamine ) worth Rs 10 crore and around 9.1 kg of an unidentified drug,which we have sent for forensic analysis to identify the drug,and the Fortuner car,said Singe. The total worth of the drugs and the car is around Rs 40.20 crore, he said. The farm,spread over 10,000 square feet was being used to store the drug and we will question the tribal owner who had given the farm on rent in this regard,he said.
The kingpin Faiyaz Shaikh is twice married,with his first wife residing in Bangalore and his second wife in Vasai and the Fortuner SUV is owned by Faiyaz. The other accused Sajid worked in Faiyaz's house in Bangalore as a caretaker,said police.
