MUMBAI : A factory hand looking to get some "fun" got into trouble when he made a call to Vijay Sagar, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vasai claiming that a murder has occurred in Dhanivbaug, Ganesh Nagar in Vasai on Friday dawn.
I received the call on my mobile about the said murder, and informed PI Prakash Birajdar, of Waliv police station to look into the matter as due to the New Year, there is heavy police bandobast, and we did not want to take any chance, said Sagar.
My men searched the entire area, but we did not get any inputs about the murder, so we contacted Satish Dube, the caller who "alerted" us,said Sagar. But his phone was switched off, and when it was on, we traced the location and reached Dube's house who got unawares about the police presence.
Dube at first denied about making the call, but after we showed the Call Data Record, he confessed and said he wanted to have some "fun" and so he made an April Fool of the police department, said Sagar.
We arrested Dube under Section 182 ( giving false information with an intent to cause a public servant use his lawful power to the injury of another person) of the IPC and when produced before the Vasai court he was sentenced to a day's imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 said Sagar.
