MUMBAI :  Manoj Mehta (52)  who was seriously injured in the 3 July Gokhale bridge collapse at Andheri died on Sunday in the Nanavati Hospital. Mehta was a qualified CA and a successful builder who had many building projects in Boisar and Palghar since the past 35 years. 

Said a relative, Mehta stayed in Vile Parle and would commute daily to Palghar to oversee his construction business. On that fateful day at around 0730 hrs, Mehta was standing on Platform 8 waiting for the Dahanu local to arrive when the debris of the bridge fell on him. He was admitted in the ICU of the Nanavati Hospital with spinal and other injuries and also worse his kidneys was also not functioning said the relative.But still Manoj fought his battle for survival but death won said his brother Rajesh.

Since the last two days Mehta's condition worsened said Padam Sharma a member of Rotary Club of Palghar of which Mehta was a key member. Despite his tight business schedule Mehta would regularly contribute to the Rotary Club activities said Sharma. Mehta is survived by wife and two daughters. The funeral is scheduled on Monday morning.
