MUMBAI : A 72 retired government official allegedly committed suicide by pumping four bullets with his licenced revolver in the right side of his head killing him instantly on early Wednesday morning. The Manor police have registered a case of accidental death but have not ruled out murder, and are investigating.

Pandarinath K Sankhe (72) a retired Revenue department official allegedly shot himself with his licenced revolver in his sprawling bungalow premises in Maswan, in Palghar on Wednesday at around 0630 hours. We found the victim lying in a pool of blood and have sent the body for post mortem at the J J Hospital and its report is awaited, said Vikas Naik, DySP, Palghar. The victim's wife, Asha and watchman were present in the bungalow at the time of the incident, said police.

It is impossible for a person to fire four bullets simultaneously from a firearm and that too at point blank range, and we have seized the revolver which had two bullets intact, and sent it for ballistic analysis at the forensic laboratory, said Naik. We also found some notes regarding his business transactions and are probing all possible angles, said Naik. The victim is survived with son who stays in Mumbai and a daughter who stays in Canada, said the official. Depression is also not ruled out, said the official.
