MUMBAI:The body of a recovery agent was found in a highly decomposed state on Wednesday morning near a sea coast in Vasai. The agent had gone missing since Sunday evening, after he went to Arnala to collect some arrears and informed his parents before leaving.
Nitin Bhagat (21) resided with his parents in Gopcharpada in Virar (E) while his parents run a grocery store and Bhagat worked as a collection agent for a private credit finance firm in Mumbai. On Sunday evening he informed his parents that he was going to visit Bhalchandra Patil in Arnala to collect Rs 1,500 as an EMI instalment. But since then he did not return home and his phone was also switched off,said his parents,who then registered a missing complaint with the Arnala police on Monday morning.
We started to investigate when we received information that a highly decomposed body was found somewhere near Mamachiwadi in Vasai off the coast and after identification by his relatives, it was the body of the missing Bhagat,said an Arnala police official. We have registered a case of accidental death and sent the body for post mortem at the local PHC and its report is awaited,he said.
After going through Bhagat's belongings, we found vouchers worth Rs 80,000 as proof of payment collected from customers, and the cash was also missing. We are investigating the possible angle whether Bhagat was murdered for the money or for some other reason, as we also found his mobile besides the body and are going through the Call Data Records (CDRs) for some clues,said the official.
