Sanan with the Tulinj police officials after he was rescued from Manmad railway station.
MUMBAI : A 7 year old boy was rescued by the Tulinj police from Manmad railway station on late Saturday night after he was kidnapped by his own relative in revenge, as the son's father, an auto driver by profession, was delaying payment of a Rs 1 lakh loan given by the accused since the past year. So in revenge, the accused kidnapped the boy from his school and was taking him to his UP village in a late night train, when he was arrested from Manmad railway station and when produced before the Vasai court on Monday, he has been remanded in police custody.
The accused, Mahendra Yadav (45) had last year, given Rs 1 lakh loan to Lalchand Yadav (35) residing in Ganeshdham chawl in Santosh Bhuwan in Nalla Sopara (E) said PI Daniel Bane of Tulinj police station. Lalchand was delaying the payment, despite several reminders by Mahendra, and so in revenge, Mahendra went to the school where Lalchand's son, Sanan (7) was studying on Saturday late afternoon, and after the school got over, Mahendra took Sanan (who was in his school uniform) and boarded a Churchgate bound local an then boarded a general coach of the Ranchi Express for his UP village, said PI Bane.
When Lalchand went to pick up his son from the school, he was shocked to find that his son had already left home, and he approached us and we started to probe the issue, said the official.
The needle of suspicion was on Mahendra,as he was missing and checked the CCTV footage from the school, where it was seen Mahendra taking the child from the school and we started to check Mahendra's Call Data Record (CDR) and we found that the location was somewhere in Nashik district, so we presumed that he was in a train and we immediately contacted the Central Railway and identified the train as the 18610 Down Ranchi Express, which leaves from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at around 1600 hours., and we got to know that the train would be reaching Manmad station at around 2215 hours and alerted the Manmad GRP and their constables searched the train and we knew that Mahendra would be in the general coach as getting an instant reservation is impossible in Northbound trains, said PI Bane.
Just then, we got information from Manmad GRP that Mahendra and Sanan were found in the general coach and Mahendra was arrested under Section 364(a) (kidnapping for ransom) of the IPC and the Manmad GRP kept the boy in their safe custody and we reached there and took the boy in our custody and on Sunday afternoon, we reunited Sanan with Lalchand and his wife, said PI Bane. The accused is remanded in police custody when produced before the Vasai court on Monday, said the official. We will also question the school authorities as to how could they allowed Mahendra to take away the child, when only parents are allowed to accompany the wards,he said.
