An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Palghar Police district attempted suicide by swallowing around 30 to 40 sleeping pills in his Mulgaon, in Vasai home on Wednesday late night. So much so, he even sent WhatsApp messages to his friends about the attempt and blamed his superior for mental harrassment. However, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Manjunath Singe said the cop is facing a departmental enquiry and is using pressure on the police. The Deputy Superintnedent of Police (DySP) Vasai is to submit a report to the SP in this regard. The cop was admitted to the Vasai civic hospital and now has been transferred to a private hospital.

ASI Mahesh Gosavi (50,pictured) consumed the sleeping pills in his home on Wednesday night, after sending messages on WhatsApp to his friends. Said Madhvi, my husband is being harrassed by his superior and he would name API Maruti Patil of the Anti Human Trafficking Cell since  the past few months. He would be depressed at all times, she said. He was transferred to the Palghar Control Room and his duty was to escort criminals from Palghar, Vasai to Thane and back and my husband would follow the orders, she said.He would also be abused by his superiors and would often be marked absent if he was even 10 minutes late, alleged Madhvi.

Meantime, Dr Bhakti Chowdhary of Vasai civic hospital said Gosavi is out of danger and is responding to treatment and his BP is also normal, but his relatives wanted insisted on him to be admitted in a private hospital.

Manjunath Singe, SP, Palghar said Gosavi is facing a Departmental Enquiry (DE) for some serious issues and he is putting pressure on the police. In 2013 also Gosavi did a similar drama, said Singe. Gosavi has even approached the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) for his transfer to the Palghar control and the order is pending, even though Gosavi himself is errant in attending the hearings, said Singe. Assigning duty to police personnel is my prerogative and Gosavi wanted to go back to his original posting and thus he is creating a drama, said Singe. I have told Vishwas Walvi, Deputy Superintendent of Police DySP Vasai to submit a report in this case, said Gosavi.
